Whiskey is a golden retriever adopted from the Montgomery County Humane Society who made a D.C. liquor store his second home for years. He greets everyone he meets like they’re the person he’s been waiting for all day. We’re still working on being that glad to see people.
People come in for a bottle. Plenty stay for the company. That’s why he’s on the label.

Stray Oak started with rescue dogs, not bourbon. Some we adopted. Some we only meant to foster: a few weeks, a spare room, until the right family came along. More often than we planned, that family was us.
We’re not good at goodbyes. We’ve stopped apologizing for it.
10% of profits goes to canine rescue. The more we sell, the more they get.
They bring the dogs. We bring bourbon.
Humane Rescue Alliance is D.C.’s shelter. When we throw a party, they bring dogs looking for their people. Some of them leave with a family.
