THE SHORT VERSION.
Stray Oak Spirits is a Washington, D.C. bourbon company founded by a group of friends who have fostered 28 dogs between them and kept more than they meant to. Its Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is chosen barrel by barrel from a single Kentucky distillery, aged a minimum of three years, and blended and bottled in D.C. at 90 proof. It earned 93 points at the 2026 New York International Spirits Competition and Platinum at the 2026 SIP Awards. Both are blind tastings. The label features Whiskey, a shelter-adopted golden retriever who spent years working the door at a D.C. liquor store. Ten percent of profits goes to canine rescue.
